چکیده

ABSTRACT We present the results of a study aiming at retrieving fundamental parameters M dwarfs from spectra secured with SPIRou, near-infrared high-resolution spectropolarimeter installed Canada–France–Hawaii Telescope (CFHT), in framework SPIRou Legacy Survey (SLS). Our relies on comparing observed two grids synthetic spectra, respectively, computed PHOENIX and MARCS model atmospheres, ultimate goal optimizing precision which can be determined. In this first step, we applied our technique to 12 inactive effective temperatures (Teff) ranging 3000 4000 K. implemented benchmark carry out comparison models used study. report that choice has significant impact may lead discrepancies derived 30 K Teff 0.05 dex 0.10 surface gravity (log g) metallicity ($\rm {[M/H]}$), as well systematic shifts up 50 0.4 log g $\rm {[M/H]}$. The analysis is performed high signal-to-noise ratio template averaged over multiple observations corrected telluric absorption features sky lines, using both transmission principal component analysis. With models, retrieve Teff, g, {[M/H]}$ estimates good agreement reference literature studies, internal error bars about K, dex, 0.1 respectively.

New neighbours . I . 13 new companions to nearby M dwarfs ⋆

We present preliminary results of a long-term radialvelocity search for companions to nearby M dwarfs, started in September 95. The observed sample is volume-limited, and defined by the 127 northern (δ > −16◦) M dwarfs listed in the Gliese and Jahreiss (CNS3) catalogue with d≤9 pc and V≤15. Observations are obtained with the ELODIE spectrograph on the 1.93-m telescope of the Observatoire de Hau...

Spitzer-IRAC Search for Companions to Nearby, Young M Dwarfs

We present the results of a survey of nearby, young M stars for wide low-mass companions with IRAC on the Spitzer Space Telescope. We observed 40 young M dwarfs within 20 pc of the Sun, selected through X-ray emission criteria. A total of 10 candidate companions were found with IRAC colors consistent with T dwarfs. Extensive ground-based NIR follow-up observations rejected all these candidates....

Metallicities of Nearby K- Dwarfs

One of the main issues in the chemical evolution of galaxies is the so called " G-dwarf problem " (Pagel and Patchett, 1975) in which the observed stellar metal distribution differs from the predicted in the sense that there are too many metal deficient stars. The same problem was now been seen among K-dwarfs, indicating the problem is a general one (Flynn and Morell, 1997). We have used the Hi...

A procedure to calibrate algorithms for estimating parameters from spectra

I outline a procedure for calibrating the Gaia spectral parameter estimation algorithms, in particular GSP-Phot. It assumes that synthetic spectra accurately reproduce small changes in the APs. In contrast, they may not accurately reflect large changes in the APs or they may have systematic offsets in the absolute fluxes. It is these changes that the outlined calibration procedure can correct f...

Estimating Stellar Parameters from Spectra using a Hierarchical Bayesian Approach

A method is developed for fitting theoretically predicted astronomical spectra to an observed spectrum. Using a hierarchical Bayesian principle, the method takes both systematic and statistical measurement errors into account, which has not been done before in the astronomical literature. The goal is to estimate fundamental stellar parameters and their associated uncertainties. The non-availabi...
